Voice control
'Close the patio screen,' 'open the back porch screen,' 'screens off' as a routine. Works the same way as your smart-bulb or thermostat commands.

Smart-Home Patio Screens
Talius motorized retractable screens with Somfy tubular motors. Pair with the TaHoma bridge to add voice control, schedules, geofencing, and scenes through your existing smart-home setup.
Every motorized Talius install ships with a hardwired wall switch and a handheld RTS remote at no extra cost. Both work without internet, without an app, and without any setup. That covers daily operation for most homeowners.
Smart-home control is the optional layer on top. The Somfy TaHoma bridge talks to the motor over RTS radio and exposes the screen to Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit. Once paired, the screen behaves like any other smart device on the network. Voice command, schedules, geofencing, and scene triggers all work the same way as your smart bulbs or thermostat.
TaHoma also works on its own through the Somfy mobile app, with screens grouped into rooms, sun sensor automation, and wind-sensor-driven auto-retract. The bridge lives in the house, plugs into ethernet or wifi, and runs the screens locally. Cloud connection is only used for off-property control through the app.
'Close the patio screen,' 'open the back porch screen,' 'screens off' as a routine. Works the same way as your smart-bulb or thermostat commands.
Auto-deploy at sunset, retract at sunrise, drop with the 'movie night' scene. Routines fire whether you're home or not.
Sun sensor drops the solar mesh on bright afternoons. Wind sensor auto-retracts above a set gust threshold. Both work without you touching anything.
Open the screen on your way home from the cottage. Close it before a storm hits. The Somfy app reaches the screen from anywhere with internet.
The chain is short: Somfy tubular motor in the screen headbox, RTS radio out to the TaHoma bridge, ethernet or wifi from the bridge to your network, and standard smart-home protocols out to Alexa, Google Home, and HomeKit. The TaHoma bridge is the translator between the screen's RTS radio and the protocols your smart-home hub speaks.
Setup runs once during install. We pair the screen with the bridge, you pair the bridge with your hub, and from that point the screen shows up as a device in Alexa or Google Home or HomeKit. Add it to rooms, scenes, and routines the same way you'd add any other device.

If you already run Alexa, Google Home, or HomeKit, the screen drops into your routines for free. Voice command and scene support work day one.
Off-property control matters when the cottage is empty. Close the screen before the storm hits, open the bunkie before guests arrive.
Sun-sensor automation is the killer app on west-facing decks. The shade drops at 4 PM glare without you thinking about it, retracts at sunset on its own.
Three steps. No surprises. Most installs ship within 3–4 weeks of the consult.

An installer visits your patio, takes measurements, walks you through mesh and motor options. No-pressure, no charge.
Custom build at our shop, then a half-day install on your patio. You're using it the same evening.
The TaHoma bridge plus paired-install setup is a known additional step on top of a motorized retractable screen install. Most Ontario buyers add it on the first install rather than retrofitting later because the install crew can pair it once and walk you through the smart-home setup the same day. Add-on pricing scales with how many screens are on the same property, but the bridge itself is one-time hardware that handles many screens. We send the smart-home and basic motorized prices on the same quote so you can compare.
Same retractable hardware on a track, different mesh. Bug protection on one side, sun and heat on the other. Bundled installs save on the second unit.
